Evenflo Comfort Select Review (and Giveaway!)

evenflodual

So, if yall didn’t hear yet…I found out I am pregnant again a few weeks ago!  Which, is why this most recent review (and giveaway for you!) had perfect timing. While I am not due until December, I absolutely will be breastfeeding this baby as well.  My breastfeeding relationship with Savannah was a much treasured time, so much so that I was sad to see it end at 10 months and I just could not make anymore.  See, I started going back to college when Savannah was 6 months old, but in doing so it was hard to maintain my supply. Let me just say, pumping in bath rooms between classes was not fun (but I will be doing it again, I’m sure!) and it often left me forgetting I had my pump in my backpack and it quickly got moldy (I NEVER fed her the milk, don’t worry. It was “pump and dump” to keep my supply going and keep me from busting). Obviously, once our breastfeeding relationship was over I could not keep that pump. I knew it would not be safe for future baby feeding use, so I tossed it.

I knew I would have to buy another one for this baby, and I’m so glad Mom Central provided this opportunity to review the new Evenflo Comfort Select Performance Dual Auto-Cycling Breast Pump. While I obviously can’t try it out just yet, I can tell you how excited I am about this product and my initial impression. Firstly, I was impressed with how compact and light the bag is. I don’t know about you, but when I think about dual electric pumps I think big bulky bags that I’ve seen busy Mom’s carrying around. This? Is about the same size as my purse, and definitely lighter than my purse ;-) The dual bag has two openings, one side is insulated to store your breast milk (it even comes with ice packs!) and the other holds all the pumping supplies you need.

Even though I can’t use it yet, I did open my box up to test how easy it is to put together. I’ve never used an electric pump before so I was not quite sure how that would differ from my manual one, but it wasn’t much different. And, even if you don’t have experience with pumps it is still easy!  The directions are very clearly explained and it is not too many parts to put together. The only issue I had was my own fault; I looked over a step about putting the horn piece to the pump unit, and I got it stuck! So, just make sure you read everything carefully (and boil before your first official use, of course) and it’ll be simple.

The pump itself has many features that I love as well. Such as, it comes with a nipple adapter to make it smaller and fit properly if needed, it has several speeds to assure comfort, and you can either plug it in or use batteries. I also love that this is a dual pump. From my experience, it is MUCH easier to have a successful pump from both sides if you pump at the same time because the “let down” happens at the same time.  I’m so excited to have two now!  And an added health bonus?  All the plastic pieces, including the bottles, are BPA free. Which means, a healthier baby and ease of mind for mommy.

You can win it!

I will be giving away a Comfort Select Performance Dual Auto-Cycling Breast Pump (sealed and unopened) as well as two boxs of Disposable Nursing Pads (one with Lanolin).

Not entering because I am happy with my pump when I need to use it, but I just wanted to say that having an electric pump is REALLY going to help keep your supply up when you’re pumping away from home this time. So much more efficient with an electric than a manual.

Good luck! And great giveaway!

I am due in December 2009 and will be breast feeding to save money. I will be going back to work after I take my maternity leave and will need it for the babysitter or while my husband watches the baby. And to store additional milk for night time so if I am tired I can give them the bottle instead. :)

I am the mother of 5 beautiful children. I just found out I am pregnant with my 6th. I want to breastfeed this one like I did the rest, but I have to return to work 6 weeks after this one is born. I do not want to go to formula at such a young age. I want my baby to have what is best for him/her and I know that is my milk. With this pump I will be able to carry it to work with me and keep my milk supply ready for my baby. Thank you for your consideration, Kimberly

I breastfed my 1st child & it is something I am forever glad that I did. It wasn’t always easy & there were definitely times I could have used a good pump. All I had was a manual hand pump that I only used if I was really engorged & desperate. I am now pregnant with my 2nd child & I really want a good pump so that this time it is easier to have the daddy help feed & be able to go out for the evening & not worry about not having enough milk for the baby. I would love to try this pump, it sounds fabulous.

Commenting! I want this, I want this! Ok, my reasons. I will be going back to work if Aaron hasn’t found a job by mid-February/first of March. So, obviously I would need a pump as we’d send our little one to the sitter. Also, it would be helpful just to store milk if we went out. I’ve never breastfed and am really nervous but given the bonding/CHEAPNESS of it, I’m all for it.

I’m twittering (can’t Facebook though I’d love to) and blogging. :)

I don’t know if my links posted. I keep refreshing and it says they haven’t but when I repost it says I’ve said that…sorry!

We just found out we’re pregnant with #3. I gave away ALL my baby items after #2, so we have to buy EVERYTHING!

I’ll be breastfeeding this one because of the health benefits it provides and because it saves money.

I need this, too, because I have two kiddos who would love to be able to give the baby a bottle.

I am pregnant and plan on breastfeeding this baby also. we have four kids also Debbie 13, Kenny 12, Lucca 7 & Lilly 7 months. I do not currently own a breast pump but it would enable me to occasionaly get a break (with out one I am home and with baby at all times because I am the source of food)

I just want to say, even though I’m not pregnant. I want to see more reviews of mommy stuff. I plan to have kids in the future and I haven’t been around a baby since I was one. And I mean that literally. So, the knowledge of baby/mommy products is really appreciated.

My baby is due in December and I am currently a student. I plan to breastfeed exclusively and I will need to go back to school and also work almost immediately after the baby is here and I may not be able to afford a good breast pump like the one being offered and will be really happy to get one.

HEY! and congrats to all preggo!
well, sheesh, where to start, I am 19 years old, due with my first in december.. i currently and living with a friend and her family, but they recently told me i had to be out in july.. i just got a job and dont have a car, so finances are pretttyyy tight. My boyfriend, more so just my babys father, :( is in the army and leaving for Korea in august.. therefore i will be a single mother with the dirty work. I fully plan on breast feeding as long as possible, but with little support i will be practically walking out of the hospital into work.. leaves very little time for the breast.. it would also come in handy should i have latch problems, PRAYING I DONT!! but my nipples are flat, so it is possible.. the reasons are long. . as is the list of benefits for both mother and baby from breast feeding…

CONGRATS on your pregnancy!!!

I can’t even express how badly I want to win this! I am 6 months pregnant with my second and never had a pump with my first. WEll, I DID-but it was horrible and ended up breaking!

I only breastfed him for 4 months b/c I didnt have a pump and I was too modest to do it in public all the time.

I would LOVE to bf for longer with this baby-idealy a year. My supply was great with my son and I know I would have done it longer if I had a great pump!

Thanks so much for the chance and congrats again!

I am currently pregnant with baby #2 (due in early October) and would love to win this product for several reasons. 1) I became ill with Rotovirus immediately after having my very first child and was on so much medication that I was told not to breastfeed and my milk supply quickly dried up. It is an experience that I never got to have and I want to be able to have that wonderful bonding experience with this baby. 2) I know my husband would like to bottle feed the baby on occasion and this would make that possible. 3) I will be returning to work soon after the baby is born and this would allow me to pump “on the go”! 4) I don’t own a breastpump and would love to have this one to help my with the whole breastfeeding experience =)

Congratulations on your new pregnancy!! I am 3.5 months pregnant and looking forward to breastfeeding! My plan, thus far is to try to keep it up for a year and with that said having a GREAT pump with help for daddy & baby bonding. I would absolutely love to win this pump kit! Thanks SO much for the chance!

I am also pregnant. I plan to breastfeed for the health reasons and to save money. I’d love a great pump to use so daddy can help with feedings sometimes too.
